Shopping in İstanbul
Bazaars
Many of the stalls in the bazaar are grouped by what type of goods they sell, with special areas for leather coats and gold jewelry. The Egyptian Bazaar is located in the Grand Bazaar. The Grand Bazaar is near Beyazıt Square and also walking distance from central Sultanahmet. Closed on Sundays.
İstanbul is a shopping paradise. The city has many shopping malls, traditional shopping centers and outdoor shopping areas. If you want to go shopping in traditional shopping places you can go to the Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı) and the Egyptian Bazaar (Mısır Çarşısı).
Shopping Malls
The famous outdoor shopping areas are Nişantaşı and Bağdat Street (Bağdat Caddesi). Nişantaşı is the center of fashion in Turkey and the most prestigious national and international trademarks can be found there.
Nişantaşı is one of the most historical districts of İstanbul and it has been a place of high society where the most elite people have chosen to reside throughout it’s history. There are also many open air restaurants and coffee shops. Bağdat Street is in the heart of the Asian side of İstanbul. The street starts in Bostancı, across from the boat house, and ends in Kızıltoprak, near Kadıköy. There are many shops, book stores, restaurants and sidewalk cafe’s along the street.
