ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR INCOMING STUDENTS THROUGH WORLD EXCHANGE AGREEMENTS

General Requirements For Admission:

  • Enrolled at a partner university which has a Bilateral Student Exchange Agreement with Bahçeşehir University
  • Completed one semester/year at the home institution
  • Selected and nominated by the home institution (whose selection criteria is in accordance with the related exchange agreement)

The International Office will send applications to the relevant faculties/departments. The process between the International Office and the faculties is administered by academic coordinators (see Academic Coordinators List). After the approval of the Faculty, a letter of acceptance will be sent to the prospective exchange student.

Incoming international students should download the following form which should be printed and filled out manually.

Application Period:

Fall Semester: 01 March – 1 May
Spring Semester: 24 September –  1 November 

  • IMPORTANT: These aforementioned deadlines are universities’ nomination deadlines. Nominated students will have 30 days after these to complete and send their documents to us.

  • Learning Agreement
  • Official Transcript of Records
  • Passport copy
  • 6x passport size/shaped photographs pressed on glassy paper (6x Photo must be sent via traditional Post to the this address)
  • Printout of Online Application Approval Page
  • Life Health Insurance (not Travel Insurance); that is valid and has a center/office in Turkey
    • ATTENTION: Due to the fact that the Immigration Office has strict regulations and may demand a new one, it is highly recommended to purchase a health insurance in Turkey upon arrival. The fee scale for a proper Life Health Insurance is 100-150 Euros.

Bahçeşehir University is a fastly growing young Turkish university at the heart of Istanbul, on the coastline of Bosphorus, where Asia meets Europe.  Bahçeşehir University is a foundation university established in 1998, now with a student population of about 27, 000 and around 800 full-time academician. Bahçeşehir University has 9 faculties; Communications, Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture, Law, Art and Sciences, Education, Medical, Health Sciences. Bahcesehir University has also a vocational school and four institutions for graduate programs (Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Educational Sciences & Health Sciences).

Bahçeşehir University is one of the leading international universities of Turkey. It aims to increase the number of international students in order to create and maintain the diverse student population on its campus.

Enrollment:  27,000 students / 1000 International students from 90 different countries

Language of Instruction: English except for Law faculty. Law faculty offers some English courses for exchange students.

Local Language Requirement: Turkish language is not required.

Exchange Duration: One semester or one academic year.

Semester Load: ECTS 30 credits

Course Restrictions: Exchange students should choose %50 of their courses from the related department.

 

STUDENT VISA

Foreign students must secure a 3-month tourist visa prior to their arrival in Turkey.

There is no need for student/study visa.

 

RESIDENCE PERMIT

Foreign students are required to apply for a residence permit. Bahçeşehir University Exchange Programs Office assists international students during their residence permit application.

Students are going to have an appointment with the officers from immigration office at the BAU Beşiktaş Campus during the orientation week.

!!! No residence permit application will be accepted without passport.

Important: the online application has to be submitted before the appointment date (9th of September).

Mentor students will be assigned  to each exchange student for assistance.

 

Admission Requirements: For undergraduate Students Minimum GPA must be 2,20. For Graduate Students Minimum GPA must be 2,50.

For Spring Semester: 01 November

Meal: There are a lot of fine and affordable places to eat. A 4-courses meal usually costs around 3-4 EUR. It is cheaper if students make grocery shopping and cook for themselves.
